Design 1 - Design Fundamentals and Principles
Designers use form to shape meaning. This studio course introduces you to the basic tools designers use in shaping meaning: the elements and principles of design. Through examples, exercises, critiques, and creative projects, students will begin to think like designers. Students will work to understand and analyze design problems, develop distinctive concepts and then create and refine designs that manifest that concept.
Art 3030: Digital Communication for Art and Creative Entrepreneurship
Digital Communication for Art and Creative Entrepreneurship is an intensive, investigation in the conceptual, technical and practical uses of digital tools for communication and promotion in the art and design fields. In this course, students will learn a diversity of techniques applied in art studio practice, social media practice, arts administration, museology, and the creative economy at large using digital applications, computer programs and technology. The course will focus on the creation of various digital products for arts promotion and entrepreneurship using applications in Adobe Creative Cloud and existing web-based platforms

Art 2020: Digital Tools and Technologies for Creative Practice
This course is designed to introduce students to digital tools and technologies and prepare students for studying ART3030 Digital Communication for ART and Creative Entrepreneurship successfully. Students who complete ART2020 successfully can use digital tools and technologies. Students will use design software to prepare artwork for 2D/3D fabrication as well as operate machines in the CVAD fabrication Labs safely.
Work Shops: The SmART Project
Students will prepare for their college and career experience by giving them the tools needed to succeed as artists, designers, photographers, and creative writers. We believe that all students are capable of achieving success in their chosen field of study. This is what motivates The Smart Project. Through the program, students will create portfolio pieces and gain confidence in their abilities.
The program’s central objective is to evaluate student growth and knowledge in alignment with the goals established through each creative discipline. After-school activities will correspond with lesson goals and in-school assignments. Upon completion of the program, students will possess a core understanding of creative techniques, by developing the necessary skills and creative abilities to succeed as artists, designers, and photographers.
